Adding a Component
Inserting Components
The steps for inserting components are the same as those for adding components, with the exception that, ‘Insert’ has to be selected instead of ‘Add’. Besides, upon addition, the added component becomes the last child node of the target component, whereas upon insertion, the inserted component becomes the sibling node of the target component.
Cutting / Copying & Pasting Components
Cutting a component from the tree and pasting it under another node will delete the old set of nodes, whereas copying will retain the original set of nodes. “Cut” Menu will be enabled for Assemblies, Manufactured Items, Purchased Item or other Items whose parents are not locked.
Removing Components
To remove a component from the tree, right click on the component and select “Remove”.
Locking a component Refer to the Component Library (Locking a version) locking section.
Moving a node up / down Nodes can be moved up and down (i.e. the tree order of the node can be changed) by right clicking on the node and selecting “Move Up” or “Move Down”. [Note: If the parent component is locked, the child node’s tree order cannot be changed.]
Adding/Removing Images to the components
[Note: If the parent component is locked, the child node’s tree order cannot be changed.]
Cloning a component Refer to the Component Editor cloning section. The difference between cloning a component in the component editor and the eBOM tree is that, cloning a component in the component editor will clone only that component, whereas, cloning in the eBOM tree will clone the component and along with it, will add all the child components below it. To clone a component, right click on the component & select ‘Clone Product’
Creating a new version of the component Refer to the Component Editor “Adding a new version of a component.
