This is used in Work Instructions. It is a collection of activity, resources and location.
[@Keyword]
This is used in Work Instructions. It represents node properties stored in the application
A
Activity location
An activity Location is a geographic area in a plant. Activity locations are represented in an AutoCAD layout drawing by a block (of the name PPAPL) that prompts the user for its extents attributes (min x, y max x, y).
It has one of five internal types:
process
assembly
storage
dock
flow through
Additional external types can be user-defined
Activity locations are global to an account
Synonymous with “station” and “work-station”
Adding
Adds a new node and the new node becomes the last child node (tree order = maximum).
Alternative
End items, assemblies, features, and manufactured items; purchased items and raw materials can be mapped to multiple suppliers (alternatives) which have user-assigned ranks.

B
BOM
Bill of materials—a structured hierarchical list of product assemblies and parts. Proplanner distinguishes between two types of BOM:
eBOM
engineering BOM
components of a product as defined by the product designer
|
mBOM
manufacturing BOM
comprises a "recipe" used to make a product
all components in the eBOM, plus
· raw materials
· features (often referred to as stages of work in process or WIP)
· sub-components not broken out in the eBOM
· appearances of multiple-quantity items from the eBOM. For example, the eBOM may list pedal (2) which might appear in the mBOM as left pedal and right pedal
· operations, activities, and elements
|
components in the list may be of these types:
E – end item, the root of the product tree
A – assembly, a container for components
I – item, the lowest level of component identification in the eBOM, whose manufacture/purchase status has not been specified
M – manufactured component
P – purchased component
|
components in the list are one of the types defined for the eBOM or one of these additional types:
F – feature identifying a stage of work-in-process
R – raw material

C
Check-in
Save changes to an entity such as a document that has been checked out.
Check-out
Lock an entity such as a document indicating that the user intends to make changes to it.
Cloning
Produces an entity with exactly the same properties as the source entity.
Component
A product node in the eBOM or mBOM tree. Components are of the following types:
End Item
Assembly
Feature
Manufactured Item
Purchased Item
Raw Material
Item
Components are global to an account. (eBOM and mBOM tree structures of components are local to a project)
Configure
Referring to the eBOM and mBOM, a filtered display of tree items according to inclusion/exclusion rules based on selected options (the option mix)
Copy
Copies the entities (or a tree) to the clipboard without removing it from the existing location
CSV or .csv Files
A comma seperated value file or a CSV file is one where all the columns within the file are seperated by a comma. Microsoft Excel has the option of saving any file as a .csv file.
Custom fields
The Proplanner application allows the user to define custom fields. The user can then define a formula using these custom fields, i.e. these custom fields can be used as variables.
Cut
Copies the entities (or a tree) to the clipboard and removes it from the existing location
Top
D
Delay
A time bucket that acts as a buffer
Delete
Removes the existence of the entity
Deep Cloning
Deep cloning is a concept that clones all levels of the selected entity, e.g. if the user were to select an operation and click deep clone, a clone of not only the operation but of all the activities under the operation is created.
Top
E
Effectivity
A period between which the entity will be active
Element
Lowest level of process definition; breaks down activity into items such as walk, reach, grasp, rotate;
Used to estimate elemental time, which is rolled up into the parent activity
Export
Copying a document out of Proplanner application

F
FMEA
Failure Mode Effects Analysis
There are two types of FMEAs:
•
|
DFMEA analyzes design failure effects
|
•
|
PFMEA analyzes process failure effects
|
Top
G
Global
Available and applicable to all instances of the entity.
Top
H
History
A log of all the modifications to the entity
Top
I
Import
Refers to the process of adding an external file into the Proplanner application
Inserting
Adds a new sibling node and the new node is placed just above the target node.
Instance
Only available and applicable to the current instance of the entity regardless of the parent.
Internal class(IC)
These classes are system defined classes that are used to classify resources
Top
L
Load
Adding an existing entity into an area (folder or a tree area)
Local
Only available and applicable to the current instance of the entity (as long as it appears under the same parent).
Locking
Locking an entity ensures that no changes can be done to it.
M
Monumental Resources
These are resources that are fixed at a specific location on the plant, for e.g. a hoist or a fixture
Top
O
Operation
Container for activities or other operations.
May produce (be mapped to) an end item.
Is not required to contain children. Operations without children appear in the process tree, but are analytically ignored.
Option Mix
A property of an end item used to specify included or excluded components and features. Option Mixes make it possible to define one BOM to represent multiple models.

P
Paste
Copies an entity (or a tree) that has been copied or cut to the clipboard
Plant
Plant data stored in the database consists of area boundaries, activity locations, and resources.
In a hierarchical tree structure, a plant is the root node and has child area boundaries. Boundaries are always parents of activity locations; activity locations are always parents of resources. Plant structures are global, but document assignments are local
Process flow diagram
A diagram showing material travel between activity locations
Initially generated from the process graph
Process graph
· Node graph showing operations flow
· Shows what components go into an operation and what components it produces
Process mapping
It is the mapping of an operation to a product node (end item, manufactured item, assembly, item, and feature)
Project
•
|
A set of eBOM and mBOM information and references to related files such as product, part, or equipment photographs, and work instructions, which can be linked to nodes of the eBOM and mBOM.
|
•
|
Projects are local within an account

R
RPN
Risk Priority Number, which is a product of severity, occurrence and detection values in FMEAs
Rank
A priority amongst multiple entities
Remove
Removes a node from the tree, but does not remove its existence
Resource
Operator, machine or tool that contains a fixed and variable cost, and is used to perform an activity
Resources are referenced by activities and assigned to locations
Can be specified by class (such as lathe or operator) or an instance of a class (such as lathe16 or operator12)
Users can define additional resource types as sub-types of these base types:
Machine
Material Handling Device
Operator
Tool
Consumable
Import
resource blocks found within a layout drawing that have not yet been defined in the project are collected under the node “Import”. In the plant view, a resource is always a child of activity locations; resources are global to an account.
Role
Proplanner supports two types of roles, Author and Viewer
Author: An author has read/write capabilities on the database. The user who is an author can edit data within Proplanner.
Viewer: A viewer has only the read capability on the database. The user who is a viewer can only view the data.
Roll up
Value of a parent entity based on the values of the children or descendants
Routing
The material flow/movement of the product and its components in the facility. Routings are characterized by move activities specified in the process flow diagram and define how materials move between activity locations.

Top
T
Template
A stencil for creating Work Instruction and Ergonomics sheets

It is a user defined class that is a child class under an Internal Class that are used to classify resources
