Rules:

.The mBOM Tree can contain multiple End Items.

.While adding existing Components to the mBOM tree, the list of Components available for addition should also be present in the Component Editor and vice versa. This should be true for all types of Components.

.An End Item can have multiple Assemblies, Manufactured Items, Purchased Items, Items, and Features, Raw Materials or their combinations under it.

.An Assembly can have other Assemblies, Manufactured Items, Purchased Items, other Items, and Features, Raw Materials or their combinations under it.

.ID is mandatory for any Component.

.“Add” Menu will be enabled only for End Items / Assemblies / Features / Manufactured Items that have not been locked.

.Either existing or new Components can be added to an End Item / Assembly / Features.

.Only Raw Materials (existing or new) can be added to a Manufactured Item.

.Locking a Version of a Component is an irreversible Process. Locking an End Item / Assembly / Feature / Manufactured Item will also lock the children under it automatically.

.“Move to Next Version” Menu will be enabled only for Locked Versions of a Component. This Option would create a Version of the Component that would be one greater than the latest existing Version of that Component.

.User will not be permitted to add any Component to a Locked End Item / Assembly / Feature / Manufactured Item.

.“Insert” Menu will be enabled for any Component appearing as a child under an End Item / Assembly / Feature / Manufactured Item that is not locked.

.“Insert” Menu will allow the user to add a new/existing Component above the selected Component.

.If the parent of a Raw Material is a Manufactured Item that has not been locked, then the “Insert” Menu will permit the user to insert another Raw Material (new or existing) above the existing Raw Material.

.While attaching an Operation to a Component in the mBOM tree, the list of Operations available, should also be present in the Process Editor and vice versa. Besides, the Relationship between the Operation and its children (if any) should also be same as that in the Process Editor.

.Cloning Component would create a new Component with the ID as “Clone of xxx” where “xxx” is the ID of the Component that was cloned. The Version of the Clone would be “1”. The Clone would be automatically added under the parent of the Component that was cloned as the last child. If the Component being cloned has children, then the children will not be added under the Clone.

.Cloning will be allowed even for the locked versions of components.

.“Cut” Menu will be enabled for Assemblies, Manufactured Items, Purchased Item, Raw Materials, Features or other Items whose parents are not locked.

.“Cut” process will remove the selected Component.

.“Paste” Menu will be enabled only for End Items / Assemblies that are not locked (and only if some Component has been either Cut or Copied onto the Clip board).

.“Paste” process will paste the Cut/Copied Component with its children (if any).

.“Remove” Menu will be enabled only for Assemblies, Manufactured Items, Purchased Items, Features, Raw Materials or other Items that have not been locked.

23. “Remove” process will only remove the Link between the selected Component and its parent-children, not the Component itself.

.“Move Up” Menu will move the selected Component up by one Position under its parent. This Menu will be available only to the Components appearing as children under some other Component that has not been locked. Besides, the children components which need to be moved up should be in a position other than “1”.

.“Move Down” Menu will move the selected Component down by one Position under its parent. This Menu will be available only to the Components appearing as children under some other Component that has not been locked. Besides, the children components which need to be moved down should be in a position other than the last position.

.“Move To” Menu will move the selected Component to a position of user’s choice.

.Creating / Editing / Removing Options, Option Values and Option Mixes will be allowed only for End Items that have not been locked.

.Configuring the mBOM Tree to an Option Mix will be allowed only for an End Item (which may or may not be locked). After the Tree is configured to a specific Option Mix, a “Funnel” icon will b placed besides the End Item, meaning that the Tree has been filtered for the selected End Item in the mBOM Tree.

.The Components/Process having an Option Value attached to them will have a “Check Mark” icon placed besides them in the mBOM Tree.

.Operation

a. An operation can have operations and activities below it.

b. On the mBOM tree, if a component has multiple mapping operations only one mapping operation (Rank 1) should be displayed.
