Note: The observed time sheet in Proplanner is based on a standard time study approach.

Column Descriptions

R column is for Rating Operator Performance
Normal Time (NT) column is calculated based on the Rating and the Observed time (OT). NT = OT x R/100
Allowance Summary (Note all values are recorded as percentages) includes:

o Personal needs- Trip to the restroom, drinking fountain etc.

o Basic fatigue - Individual physical condition

o Variable fatigue and Special - Unavoidable delays, tool breakage, supervisor interruptions etc

Total Time is a calculated value:  Total Time = Normal Time x (1 + Allowance)

The following is a list of steps for completing a time study.

1.Select Study as "real time", View as "spreadsheet", and Value Added as "estimated".
2.Enter a task ID for each task in the activity.
3.Next, click on the OT column and select the Play button.  This starts the time.
4.When the specific task is completed, click on the Next button.  If you want to skip a task, click on the Skip button.
5.Once, you have collected times for each task multiple times, click on the stop button.
6.Finally, click the Calculate button to view your results.

Recording NVA, VA, and NEC percentages

If you would like to collect additional information such as the non-value added and the value-added percentages, change your "Value Added" setting you defined in Step 1 from "Estimated" to "Real time".  This will cause three additional icons to appear below the play button.

Now, repeat steps 2-6 as listed above, but this time you will need to define whether the action in the specific task is VA, NVA, or NEC.

To explain how to do this, lets use a task which involves installing a spring as an example.  Once you click the play button the time for this task will begin.  So lets suppose the first thing the operator does is walk to a cabinet to get the spring.  This would be considered NVA, so the entire time this specific action is performed, the NVA icon should be selected.  Next, the operator installs the spring into the unit.  This is considered VA and therefore the entire time the operator is installing the spring the VA icon should be selected.  After this task is completed, you can click on the "next" button to begin recording times for the next task. Follow this same idea to record VA and NVA for every task.  After you are done with your time study, click on calculate and it will show the total VA, NVA, and NEC %.
