Overview
Process Editor is used to maintain information about the various types of Processes (viz. Operations, Activities and Elements) involved in manufacturing a Product. Process Editor is invoked from the Tools menu.
Rules:
1. ID is mandatory for any Operation/Activity.
2. “Add” Menu will be enabled only for Operations that have not been locked.
3. Either existing or new Operations/Activities can be added to an Operation.
4. Locking a Version of an Operation/Activity is an irreversible process. Locking an Operation will also lock the children under the Operation automatically. By default all versions of a process appear, the user can set the preference of viewing the latest version of a process by setting the “ShowAllVersions” option in the Edit Preferences menu to "False".
5. “Move to Next Version” Menu will be enabled only for Locked Versions of an Operation/Activity. This Option would create a Version of the Operation/Activity that would be one greater than the latest existing Version of that Operation/Activity.
6. User will not be permitted to add any Operations/Activities to a Locked Operation.
7. “Insert” Menu will be enabled for any Operation/Activity appearing as a child under an Operation that is not locked.
8. “Insert” Menu will allow the user to add a new/existing Operation/Activity above the selected Operation/Activity.
9. Cloning and Deleting will be allowed only for the first level children of a folder (i.e. an Operation/Activity can be deleted only from its own folder). The user would not be allowed to delete an operation if it is mapped to a component. The user would first have to remove the mapping and only then can the operation be deleted.
10. Cloning a Process would create a new Operation/Activity at the Bottom of the Tree with the ID as “Clone of xxx” where “xxx” is the ID of the Operation/Activity being cloned. The Version of the Clone would be “1”. If the selected Operation has children, then the children will also be added to the Cloned Operation.
11. Renaming an Operation/Activity would be allowed as long as the first Version of the Operation/Activity is not locked.
12. “Cut” Menu will be enabled for the second or higher level children of a Folder of an Operation that is not Locked.
13. “Cut” process will remove the selected Operation/Activity.
14. “Paste” Menu will be enabled only for Operations that are not locked (and only if some Operation/Activity has been either Cut or Copied onto the Clip board).
15. “Paste” process will paste the Cut/Copy Operation with its children. Pasting an Activity will paste the Cut/Copied Activity under the selected Operation.
16. “Cancel Paste” Menu will be enabled only if some Operation/Activity has just been Cut/Copied.
17. “Remove” Menu will be enabled only for the second or higher level children of a Folder of an Operation that is not Locked.
18. “Remove” process will only remove the Link between the selected Operation/Activity and not the Operation/Activity itself.
19. When trying to add a new operation in the process editor there are two options you can choose from. The first option is right clicking on an existing operation and either selecting “Add” then “New” which will add an operation to the selected node, or you could select “Add New Operation.” which adds a new operation to the bottom of the tree. The second option would be you would click on “File” in the Main Menu, and you can select “Add New Operation” from there.
